At today's press conference on the theme of "Promoting High-quality Development" held by the State Council Information Office, officials from the National Energy Administration stated that in the past ten years, the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption in China has cumulatively increased by 7.7 percentage points and the "greenness" of economic development has significantly improved. From 2013 to 2023, the proportion of coal consumption in China decreased from 67.4% to 55.3%, cumulatively decreasing by 12.1 percentage points while the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption, including wind power, solar power generation, hydro power, nuclear power, and biomass energy, increased from 10.2% to 17.9%, cumulatively increasing by 7.7 percentage points. The per capita electricity consumption in the whole country has increased from 500 kWh to nearly 1,000 kWh, doubling, and meeting the energy demand of more than 1.4 billion people has been effectively guaranteed.
