Brown, the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee of the United States, said that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell will testify on monetary policy to the Senate Finance Committee on July 9th once in six months. If the schedule proceeds as usual, Powell will also testify before the House Financial Services Committee the next day. These two hearings usually last for several hours, and members of both parties question Powell on a range of issues, from interest rate policy to the condition of the banking system. It is worth mentioning that the announcement date for the US non-farm payrolls and CPI data for June is close to this hearing. The former will be announced on July 5th, and the latter on July 11th.
