On June 12th local time, a high school in Connecticut held a graduation ceremony, and about 60 of the more than 300 graduates were survivors of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. They exclaimed that 20 classmates who attended school with them at the time were absent from the graduation ceremony because their lives were forever frozen in 2012. In December 2012, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which shocked the United States, resulted in the death of 26 people, including 20 elementary school students. However, approximately 12 years have passed, and shootings continue to occur on American campuses. Data from the K-12 School Shooting Database shows that there were 912 school shooting incidents in the United States between 2021 and 2023, and the number of shooting incidents in the past three years is the highest in the approximately 40 years of data collected by the database.
