According to the General Administration of Market Regulation, as of the end of May 2024, the total number of private economic entities in China reached 180.45 million, accounting for 96.4% of the total number of operating entities, up from 95.5% in 2019. Among them, there were 55.177 million private enterprises and 125.273 million individual businesses. The proportion of private economy in China's economy is steadily increasing, and has become an important force for promoting China's modernization and an indispensable foundation for high-quality development. The development of private business is positively correlated with regional economic level. In the first quarter of 2024, the gross domestic product of 9 cities in Jing-Jin-Ji, CNI Yangtze Index, and the South China Greater Bay Area Concept reached 2.5 trillion yuan, 7.4 trillion yuan, and 2.6 trillion yuan respectively, accounting for 41.9% of the national total, and played an important role as the ballast of the national economy, a power source for high-quality development, and a reform experimental area.
