On May 28, the China Internet Association issued the “Minors' Online Game Service Consumption Management Requirements” group standard (consultation draft) (hereinafter referred to as the “Draft for Comments”). In response to the widely publicized issue of game refunds for minors, the “Draft for Solicitation of Comments” mentions that offending parties, such as online game service providers and guardians, shall bear corresponding responsibilities according to their own fault circumstances, and that the party at fault shall pay compensation to the other party for financial losses suffered as a result. If all parties are at fault, the guardian and online game service provider shall bear their own responsibilities. According to reports, the “Draft for Solicitation of Comments” is the first complete consumption management standard for the domestic game industry. It is suitable for guiding online game service providers, mediation agencies and other organizations to carry out consumption management and mediation of online game services for minors, and can also provide reference for relevant administrative departments and judicial authorities.
