Nike ruled in a second appeal hearing on Tuesday that Nike can use three stripes in some German pant designs. This hearing is a confrontation between the American sportswear manufacturer and its smaller rival Adidas. After Adidas filed a trademark infringement lawsuit in 2022, the Düsseldorf District Court has banned US companies from using two or three stripes in five of their pants designs. The court said Nike can now use stripes on the four disputed models, while the ban on the remaining one is still in effect, partially reversing the previous ruling. The three parallel stripes are Adidas's famous trademark, and Adidas has spared no effort to protect this trademark in courts around the world.
