Yu Weining, a statistician from the Department of Industry of the National Bureau of Statistics, interpreted industrial enterprise profit data and said that industry profits increased by over 70% from January to April. From January to April, out of 41 major industrial industries, profits of 31 industries increased year-on-year, accounting for 75.6%, and industry growth increased 7.3 percentage points over January-March. By category, the mining industry was affected by falling coal prices and production. Profits fell 18.6% year on year, and the decline was 0.1 percentage points higher than in January-March. Manufacturing profits increased by 8.0%, and the growth rate accelerated by 0.1 percentage points. Profits in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water increased by 36.9%, continuing the rapid growth trend. Among them, the power industry benefited from the reduction in electricity and coal costs and the increase in power generation, which increased profits by 44.1%; the profit of the gas industry decreased by 0.4%.
