J.P. Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said on Thursday that the US economy could experience a “hard landing.” In an interview at the 20th J.P. Morgan Chase Global China Summit in Shanghai, he said, “Will we really see a hard landing? Of course, how can someone who has read history say they don't have a chance?” Dimon said that the worst outcome for the US economy would be “stagflation,” that is, inflation continues to rise, but economic growth slows in the face of high unemployment. Dimon also said that interest rates are still likely to rise “slightly”. “I think inflation is trickier than people think,” he said. I think this is more likely than others think, mainly because huge fiscal and monetary stimulus programs are still in place and are probably still driving this liquidity.” (Global Market Report)
