At the same time, it was announced that its first plan to repurchase existing bonds in more than 20 years will begin this month. The US Treasury Department said in a statement that it will sell 125 billion US dollars of bonds in the so-called quarterly refinancing issuance next week, including 3-year, 10-year, and 30-year treasury bonds. After increasing the issuance of medium- to long-term bonds for three consecutive quarters, the Ministry of Finance said in January that it does not expect a further increase this year. They reiterated that it is anticipated that there will be no need to increase the issuance of conventional bonds “for at least the next few quarters.” As the Federal Reserve slows down the pace of reducing its holdings of US Treasury bonds — many traders expect the Federal Reserve to announce this measure on Wednesday, the pressure on the US Treasury is expected to ease.
