On April 29, Singapore Telecom announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Optus Mobile has signed an agreement with Australian telecommunications company TPG Telecom to create a regional multi-operator core network. Over the 11-year agreement period, Optus expects to receive a total service fee of approximately $1.6 billion, with an estimated incremental cash flow of approximately $900 million over the same period. Optus will provide TPG Telecom with regional wireless access network services, and the two parties will share the spectrum of the Australian region. TPG Telecom will increase its mobile network from approximately 755 network sites in Australia to 2,444 sites.
