Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, held talks with US Secretary of State Brinken in Beijing. The two sides reached a five-point consensus based on a comprehensive exchange of views.
First, the two sides agreed to continue to work to stabilize and develop Sino-US relations in accordance with the guidelines of the heads of state of the two countries. Both sides acknowledged the positive progress made in dialogue and cooperation between China and the US in various fields since the San Francisco meeting, and agreed to speed up implementation of the important agreements reached by the heads of state of the two countries in San Francisco.
Second, the two sides agreed to maintain high-level contacts and contacts at various levels. Continue to play the role of the restored and newly established consultation mechanisms in the fields of diplomacy, economy, finance, commerce, etc. Continue to carry out exchanges between the two armies. Further promote anti-drug, climate change, and artificial intelligence cooperation between China and the US.
Third, the two sides announced that they will hold the first meeting of the Sino-US intergovernmental dialogue on artificial intelligence; continue to advance discussions on the guiding principles of Sino-US relations; hold a new round of Sino-US negotiations on Asia-Pacific affairs and Sino-US maritime affairs; and continue Sino-US consular consultations. The Sino-US anti-drug task force will hold a senior official meeting. The US side welcomed Liu Zhenmin, China's special envoy on climate change affairs, to the US.
Fourthly, the two sides will take measures to expand cultural exchanges between the two countries, welcome international students from each other countries, and organize the 14th China-US High-Level Tourism Dialogue to be held in Xi'an, China in May.
Fifth, the two sides maintain consultations on international and regional hot issues, and special envoys from both sides strengthen communication.
