Zeng Yuqun said that the electric vehicle solid-state batteries advocated by Japanese automakers and others are still several years away from commercialization. This technology is not perfect enough, lacks durability, and there are still safety issues. According to the report, industry experts believe that solid-state batteries avoid the liquid electrolytes currently used in technology and can increase driving range. Japan's Toyota touted its progress and promised to put solid-state batteries into use as early as 2027. However, Zeng Yuqun questioned whether Japanese manufacturers have actually embarked on a path that can be commercialized in the near future. Zeng Yuqun said, “We fully support solid-state batteries, and I have been investing in this area for 10 years. I learn about the work of R&D personnel on solid-state batteries almost every month, so I'm aware of all the developments.” However, he added that there are still many difficulties in bringing this type of battery to market.
