Report: Over 90% of enterprises are optimistic about future foreign investment prospects

On March 29, the China Council for the Promotion of Trade released the “2023 Survey Report on Foreign Investment Status and Intent of Chinese Enterprises”. The report shows that in the past year, foreign investment by Chinese enterprises has developed steadily. Over 80% of the surveyed companies have expanded and maintained their foreign investment intentions, an increase of nearly 10% over the previous year. Over 90% of enterprises are more optimistic about future foreign investment prospects. Yang Fan, press spokesman for the China Council for the Promotion of Trade, said that from a geographical perspective, nearly 70% of enterprises prefer to invest abroad and co-build countries along the “Belt and Road”. From an industry perspective, nearly 50% of enterprises prefer manufacturing for foreign investment, while nearly 30% prefer wholesale and retail, leasing, and business services. In terms of purpose, over 60% of enterprises invest abroad to develop overseas markets. Judging from the results, the return on foreign investment of more than half of enterprises increased or remained stable, and the profit margin on foreign investment of over 30% of enterprises increased.
