If this trend continues, the number of visitors to Hong Kong will approach or even exceed 50 million this year, exceeding original expectations. Wong Wai Lun is very optimistic about the prospects for Hong Kong's tourism development this year, stressing the need for good manpower and flight support. He pointed out that according to the economic consultant's assessment, every 1.5 million visitors to Hong Kong can bring about one-thousandth of the gross domestic product, which is equivalent to an economic benefit of HK$3 billion.
