Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng said at the press conference on people's livelihood at the Second Session of the 14th National People's Congress that we will play a leading role in higher education, implement comprehensive higher education reform pilot projects, combine scientific and technological development trends with social development needs to optimize the setting of subjects and majors, better deepen the reform of talent training mechanisms and the optimization of talent evaluation mechanisms, and continuously stimulate the potential for talent development and innovation. This is a very important task for us. In the pilot comprehensive reform of higher education, we will promote the development of the classification characteristics of colleges and universities and establish a classification evaluation mechanism. Developing new quality productivity and achieving modernization requires talents from all fields, and requires top innovative talents in various fields. Therefore, promoting higher education reform through classification is an inevitable requirement for higher education to move from elite education to universal education.
