According to a semiconductor manufacturing monitoring report recently released by the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) and semiconductor research institute Tech Insights, sales of electronic products and integrated circuits (ICs) increased in the fourth quarter of 2023, and the global semiconductor manufacturing industry is expected to recover in 2024. According to SEMI data, sales of electronics products increased 1% year over year in the fourth quarter of last year, the first increase since the second half of 2022. The first quarter of this year is expected to increase 3% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, as demand improved and inventories normalized, IC sales resumed growth in the fourth quarter of 2023, up 10% year over year. IC sales are expected to increase strongly by 18% in the first quarter of 2024. SEMI predicts that after a sharp decline in semiconductor capital expenditure and fab utilization in the second half of 2023, a moderate recovery is expected from the first quarter of 2024.
