According to a client report, Goldman Sachs has revised its foreign exchange forecast for next year, and the US dollar is expected to weaken further. Strategists, including Danny Suwanapruti and Michael Cahill, wrote in a December 15 report: “The biggest correction to our forecast is for interest-sensitive currencies (such as the Japanese yen, Swedish krona, and Indonesian rupee), which will struggle under the mechanism of 'maintaining high interest rates for a longer time'.” Goldman Sachs predicted a three-month target of 145 for USD/JPY, 142 for six months, and 140 for 12 months; previous forecasts for the same period were 155, 155, and 150, respectively.
