Goldman Sachs Group economists still expect the Federal Reserve to suspend interest rate hikes in June, but say their probability is now “as good” as the probability that it won't stop. Economists led by Jan Hatzius wrote in the report, “Although we continue to expect the Federal Reserve to suspend interest rate hikes in June, this morning's consumer spending and inflation data were stronger than expected, and FOMC participants had a broad range of views on the appropriate policy path, all of which made it (and the probability that interest rate hikes will not be suspended) quite impressive.”
