Most Americans use cars with a mileage of about 30 miles or less, but American consumers will not be satisfied with an electric car with a range of less than 300 miles. For American electric car consumers, the range of about 300 miles is a magic number, with nearly 2/3 of the 5500 respondents in one survey saying that more than 300 miles is enough to meet the demand. Less than 10% of people are willing to accept 200 miles or less. "We are in the electrified education phase," says Stephanie Streaty, director of electric vehicle research and development at Cox Mobile. "We are making consumers understand that they don't need a car that runs 400 miles."
