Global sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.192 million, up 53.5 per cent from a year earlier, according to Jibang consultancy. Pure electric vehicles (BEV) sold 1.608 million units, up 64.9% from the same period last year, while plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) sold 580000 units, up 29% from a year earlier. Tesla, Inc. still tops the BEV brand rankings, but its market share fell from 20.1 per cent in the first quarter to a new low of 15.9 per cent in the second quarter. BYD ranked second, with its global market share rising to 11.2% from 9.3% in the first quarter of 2022.
